Snails, snails and more snails

I know the French are partial to an escargot or two but this is beyond belief. Every hedgerow or weed patch round the vines has areas where snails occupy every plant - and yes, they are alive too.

I performed my duty watering today and guess what - it has now been raining for 2 hours with occasional bouts of thunder. Today was gorgeous though with temperatures of 34' with little puffy white clouds
