Plant pot

I got this plant as a gift over a year ago and I was convinced it was a goner but all of a sudden these beautiful flowers appeared . I love the way they transform. I'm not even sure what type of plant it is but I do know I need to buy a new pot and some soil for it if I want it back next year.
