Nectar bar

The tortoiseshell butterfly is enjoying the nectar in the marjoram, one of the best nectar rich plants to attract pollinators into the garden.   Apart from being important as a culinary herb, it has a long history for medicinal use and was used extensively by the ancient Greeks with Hippocrates using it as an antiseptic for treating sore throats, respiratory and digestive problems.  Today results show that it may be active against MRSA and for many other things.
