Barrel cactus flower

"Barrel cacti are various members of the two genera Echinocactus and Ferocactus, found in the deserts of Southwestern North America. Barrel cacti can fall over because they grow based on sun orientation. They usually grow towards the south to prevent surface tissue sunburn, giving the name "compass cactus."

This one is in my garden and is only a few feet tall and wide. Some barrel cacti have red and orange flowers and some have yellow. Some have different colors depending on the time of year that they bloom.

Long day but finally home.
