Kjölur

When we woke this morning it was really cold and our trip had been so changed since we planned it, so we just decided to leave a day early and go directly home instead of going via Egilstaðir. Fortunately it looked clear in the middle of the country so we decided to take the high land route (Kjölur) home, which is 80 km shorter, but 150km of gravel...
We stopped at Hveravellir where there are very strange geothermal formations. It was icy cold, but very beautiful.
This thing reminded me of Yellowstone.
