Richter/Part
I was determined to see this today, my first real engagement with this year's Manchester International Festival.
To the Whitworth, leaving work earlier than I normally do.
Walked down Oxford Road - it was graduation day, proud parents with youngsters in gowns and mortar boards.
At the Whitworth to the back, and a gallery where a very informally dressed Estonian choir (9 of them in this shot about to sing, including the blipper on the right) sang Parts new choral piece dedicated to Richter, "Drei Hirtenkinder aus Fatima". Behind them are three of the four "Birkenau" canvasses by Richter, out of shot his "Double Grey"is dedicated to Part.
The singing was fabulous - great acoustic and harmonies.
Afterwards walked a bit around the park - took quite a lot of shots, which could also have been my blip of the day. But it has to be the choir, Vox Clamantis.
ps noticed form someone's blip that today is Abstract Thursday. This shot completely fails the brief, but as it contains paintings by one of the world's greatest living painters - I'm adding the tag.
