Caldera

I took a day trip to Santorini - the flight was 20 minutes, and the cabin crew managed to serve drinks and snacks!

This is a view of the caldera from Oia, they reportedly have most beautiful sunsets in the world here - they also have 4.8 million tourists every year compared to the resident population of 15, 000! I'm told it's almost impossible to breathe in Oia at sunset, there are so many people.

 I went from Oia, in the north, to Akrotiri Lighthouse in the south stopping off in lots of places. Then a swim, & up to the highest point for the view and back to Thira for dinner overlooking the caldera before the flight back to Crete. There are no winged bitey things on Santorini, the wind blows them away - my idea of heaven  (apart from the active volcano maybe).
