Whooping it up

A few weeks ago I blipped that I had a bit of a cough, and confidently predicted it would follow the 3 day coming, 3 day here, 3 day going rule for viral infections. Well, 3 weeks later and I still have a hacking cough that causes coughing bouts as if I smoke 60 Capstan a day. So went to the docs, and bizarrely it turns out I have whooping cough. I thought only kids got this, and even then hardly ever now because of immunisation. But apparently there is a strain going round, and as an adult your immunisation can wear off. So actually, this time I should have gone to the docs and not dismissed it as just a viral infection. Anyway, have some antibiotics now.
