Problem Family
I hope David Cameron's chewing the carpet this morning like the stinky hypocrite he is, after the news came out he left his daughter in the pub on the same day he's trying to launch his 'problem families' policy and the NSPCC report an increase in reports of child neglect.
I followed my (so far) successful parenting technique of putting the TV on in my bedroom for Alexander while I had a quick shower.
This morning though, when I came out of the bathroom I heard an echoey voice downstairs shouting "Daddy! Daddy!" I whizzed down to find this scene: half naked toddler foraging the cupboards and whimpering "breakfast"... Where do I sign up for parenting classes?
N.B. I don't think families with problems or child neglect are amusing, but I don't think this government's policy of stigmatising people is going to help. I've worked with families like these and without a doubt (almost) all of them love their children, they just don't have a clue what they're doing, going back generations in cases. And nor do most people to start with, they just have better support networks and possibly, more money to throw at their problems.
