Oxford
We had a restless night's sleep as it was so hot, but were greeted by an incredible breakfast in our B&B that almost made up for it. It also transpired that by complete coincidence that Mum has stayed in the same b&b with my Dad on a MG holiday about a decade ago.
After we'd checked out, we had a wander through Boughton and sat by the river for a while. I couldn't resist dangling my feet in the icy water. We went to the model village, and the Cotswolds Motor Museum; a place we'd both been before many moons ago. I didn't remember any of it, and enjoyed seeing the cars (including Brum!) and memorabilia from across the decades. We were keeping an eye out for some of my Dad's cabinets- we knew he's made some for the museum but had no idea if they would still be on display...and they were! it was so lovely, and quite emotional to see his work in use and on display.
After Boughton, we drove back to Oxford and after getting horribly caught up in the road-works and one-way system for over an hour, we eventually found out B&B. Mum hadn't been to Oxford before, so we took in the sights and wandered around looking at the colleges. We sniffed out a very average ice cream and had a wander along the river, sitting in some welcome shade on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far. It was really nice to mooch about, but eventually the heat and crowds from the open day drove us back to the b&b.
