Teuchter's Landing
Seemed an appropriate name for a mainland pub in Port Appin patronised by highlanders and islanders. I regularly visit a bar of the same name down in Leith, Edinburgh and this building is based on a traditional lounge/bar building in the same city - The Grassmarket (now named Christies).
Teuchter is a Lowland Scots word originally used to describe a Scottish Highlander, in particular a Gaelic-speaking Highlander. Like most such cultural epithets, it can be seen as offensive, but is often seen as amusing by the speaker. Wikipedia.
I have to admit that the Wikipedia interpretation is not as I understand the word, perhaps Snapper can advise? I certainly do not want to deeply offend anyone.
