Quiet

I just caught sight of this young Great Tit peeping round the corner.

Strange how suddenly the birds stop singing. I was outside in the garden and there wasn't a sound; the first time I have noticed that since the beginning of the year. I suppose many of our garden visitors are in the hedgerows where there is plenty for them to feed up on. I suppose the adults are resting and moulting after the rigours of rearing young. I suppose they just have no need to sing any more. A shame!

Ten years ago today, when my daughter was working in an office in central London, I got a whispered phone call from her to say that something was happening, she was safe, but the police had told them to stay in the building.
