Traveller's joy
I have been presenting a course for new technicians at Esher High school today, so on the way home (relieved it had all gone well as presenting courses is well out of my comfort zone!) I decided to stop off at Box Hill as I was driving right past and see the orchids one last time.
Sadly I was too late, and all but a few Pyramidal orchids were over completely :-( I guess the hot weather last Wednesday just finished them off.....sad, it seems a l o n g time till next April when the main season starts again.
There were other things on Box Hill though, including numerous Marbled white butterflies fighting the breeze, wasps collecting wood from fences to pulp for their nests, and a lovely final instar Mullein moth larva (who I will put in my extras).
I finally decided on this picture of a wild Clematis flower, as I love the softness of all the greens, and the gentle focus on the flower. I sometimes feel 'pin sharp' looses the essence of what you are trying to portray, whereas soft focus says it all.
Back to work today, only 2 weeks and 2 days to go ...YIPEE!!!!!!
