Nellie the elephant packed her trunk... at last.

The Beast of the Utility was forcibly removed today, and replaced by one half the size, fitted on the wall, and a million times more efficient.

It'll be a few days before it's connected up, though.

Tracing through the gas pipework from meter to boiler brought to light the usual set of hacks we've come to expect of past works here, including finding that some ancient iron pipework that goes nowhere, is connected to the live gas supply for no readily apparent reason.

Another thing to get fixed this week, then.

Removing the boiler revealed a section of the original quarry tile floor, which a small part of me would quite like to expose as being far more in keeping with the property than the superimposed posy floor tiles.

Not this week, though...
