Do You Believe in Fairies?

Decided to have a day off yesterday, as I didn't take any pictures worth sharing! 

Today, we visited Kirriemuir, birthplace of J M Barrie, the famous author of "Peter Pan" (hence the fairy question!)  This is the Camera Obscura, his unusual gift to the town, set on Kirriemuir Hill and not far from his final resting place in the local cemetery.  He was reserved a place in Poet's Corner in Westminster Abbey, but chose instead to return to his beloved home town.

The Camera Obscura, until recently owned and run by the National Trust for Scotland, was in danger of being closed permanently when funds dried up, but a group of local volunteers have taken over the management of the building.  It is now open 7 days a week and entry is free.  It is one of only three left in Scotland (the others are in Edinburgh and Dumfries) and it's fascinating to view the surrounding area via its huge dish.

Rather grey skies again today, so we'll go back when the sun is shining and hope to see even more:-)
