Ferns

Roger was up early this morning to take Laura to the station to get a train to Beaune, where she was meeting up with one of her American friends, who is currently touring round France with her parents. They had invited her to join them for a few days, and then they all come here on Wednesday, and stay with us till their return flight out of Paris on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, having arrived at the station, they discovered her train had been cancelled! She had a connection in Sens, and Roger reckoned he could get her there in time, so they ended up driving to Sens! Once he'd got back we had a delayed breakfast (!) and then decided to get out for a walk in the forest before it heated up anymore. There was more cloud cover today with the threat of rain, and we did have a shower as we were returning to the car, but since we were so hot and sweaty, the rain felt quite good! The shower didn't last long, and that was all the rain we had, but it remained hot and muggy the rest of the day. I loved the color of this fern, contrasting with the green of the forest.
