Gummers Gus

Gus on top of Gummers How above Windermere.  He is at his happiest when on this sort of rough, hilly terrain.  Here he has his eye on the only "sheep" on the hill, the surrogate sheep that is Rowan.

Sue and I took them for a walk up the hill after a visit to the boat.  After a few years when the Wayfarer hasn't been on the water, we are preparing her for launching again.  Today's step was to replace the wheel on the launching trolley.  Now she's mobile again and looking cared for.  The next task is to varnish the wood, then make a thorough appraisal of sails, sheets, lanyards etc.  Then to invest in life jackets for Gus and Rowan.  It will be interesting to see if Gus will be a good sailor, he certainly has no enthusiasm for being in the water except to paddle in the extreme shallows on a hot day.  We shall see how he reacts.
