Disturbed

I see now why all you proper photographers get obsessed with your lenses. The one time i use the zoom on our fairly decent (and only) compact camera and I'm faced with the limitations of a small lens. But given that most of my journal has been taken with even less adequate camera phones, the picture goes up anyway.
This little fellow was flying around quite agitated and making plaintive unblackbirdy noises all day. The day before I saw a magpie causing a load of commotion around the neighbours chimney where a pair of blackbirds seem to nest. I don't know whether the magpie killed their chicks and this is a grieving parent;seems too late in the year for that. Or maybe this is a chick and it's been turfed out by its parents. Whatever happened this and its pal in the tree a few gardens away make a pretty forlorn pair with their relentless fluttering and crying out and potentially suicidal standing around in a garden with a flaked out cat.
