A traditional Romanian wedding
I cannot tell you what a wonderful time I have had in Romania. It was an honour to share Matthew and Dani's day with them and to take part in all the Romanian traditions.
We were asked to make paper garlands when we arrived which were put on to a Christmas tree which the best man had to then dance with. Then we all joined in with the dance. Then the Christmas tree was carried to the local well and water was drawn and thrown over us by the best man and the bride.
Then a walk back to the house where bread was broken over Dani's head and Matthew had to be shaved.
Then it was off to the church. This is just a religious ceremony as you have to already be married in a civil ceremony. There was lots of chanting and bells and then they were blessed.
The evening reception was filled with dancing, music and food and went on until 6am!
