Gt Yarmouth Panic

Nice hot and sunny day so off to Yarmouth.  Too distracted to upload last night so tried this morning and to my horror find the sd card is blank.  After a great deal of work I've rescued my images and two of them are here. 

I'm baffled as to why images on the card ( I checked when I took them) were lost.   I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions
