a lifetime burning

Its definitely not Cricket

Wandering through the undergrowth in search of interesting subject to blip I came across this chap yesterday evening.  Having looked him up (this is not the sort of thing I know stuff about), I believe that he's a field grasshopper - the UK's most common variety. Common or not, at about 14mm long he's not someone I've realised lived locally.

I made a careful mental note of where I'd seen my new neighbour and, bright and early this morning, you find me rooting through the undergrowth once more to track him down, with success.  He was a little less camera shy than yesterday.  He might be enjoying having his portrait taken perhaps?  In reality I suspect the cool of the morning probably slowed him down a bit.

I'm off to drive north Congelton  in Cheshire to meet my good friend Mark for a weekend of guitars and beer.  Men behaving badly indeed, or certainly disgracefully, I hope.  I may therefore struggle to reply / comment for 24 hours or so.

Many thanks to everyone who has liked Thursday's abstract lavender and yesterday's Tortoiseshell, comments stars and hearts very much appreciated as ever.
