Montreux Jazz Festival
A very enjoyable day, and what a night! We were invited to the Montreux Jazz Festival by Jeep, and flew to Geneva for the drive to what they call the 'Montreux Riviera' beside Lake Geneva, or Lac Leman as the locals know it.
We had lunch in the Jazz Cafe Montreux, where John Legend was also quietly dining at a table on his own - and he's the big star headline act for tonight!
The atmosphere in Montreux is electric, with everyone enthused by the festival, which is in its 49th year. Jeep is lead sponsor for the first time, and lucky us that just a couple of car journalists are invited from each country.
We were also lucky enough to be shown around backstage and learn about what goes on at a big festival. The first performance of the night was by the amazing Emeli Sandé, who was just fabulous. Then we had two marvellous hours of John Legend, who kept the audience spellbound with his stage presence and glorious voice.
Afterwards we sat chatting into the small hours in a festival bar overlooking the lake. What a night!
