Chilterns semi-desert!

It is now so dry on parts of the nature reserve that the orchids are starting to wither and turn brown. Out of a group of around 30 bee orchids in one of the chalk pits, around half are stunted or completely shrivelled. This one is only a few inches high, with the flowers closely spaced - still beautiful, nevertheless.
