Good Thursday

These two messing about on the garage roof was really icing on the cake for an all round good day. I think I'm starting to get an idea of the characters of each of these foxes; the one in the front seems younger and generally more lively; the one at the back, which I identify with more closely, seems a little greyer and is more inclined to lie in the sun dozing - which the young one stopped him doing shortly before I took this shot.

The day started well when I survived my first foray onto a tennis court for a very long time - the ankle surgery was almost four months ago but I had only tried playing once or twice in the previous four years. It'll still be some time before I can move freely on the court but this gave me hope that that time will come.

The other real high for today was when I received a file transfer from a friend who was a volunteer with me on the game reserve back in 2012. Claudia was only there for four weeks but at the end of that time I had given her copies of around 140 photos. She thought that these had been lost when her laptop crashed later that year but it turned out that she had copied them to an old backup drive. Getting back copies of photos, which I thought I had lost for ever, of some very special places and people has given me an enormous buzz - I may even start blipping a few of them in due course. If you look at my shot from a year ago today you'll realise that Claudia's timing couldn't have been better
