Keep Them Doggies Rollin'
These familiar riders came by on a weekday, and again I snapped a few pictures. Last week, Ceridwen had spotted news articles about a century-old riding club in the Strawberry Mansion section, about five miles North, so this time I asked, "You guys are from Fletcher Street, right?"
"Oh no," one horseman replied. "Woodland Avenue, by 56th." And that was it. They rode off. As far as I can tell, there is a little-publicized riding club connected to a high school there, about a mile Southwest.
This calls for a song that's as old as I am!
Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them doggies rollin',
Rawhide
Rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishin' my gal was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good vittles, love and kissin'
Are waiting at the end of my ride
Move 'em on
(Head em' up!)
Head em' up
(Move 'em on!)
Move 'em on
(Head em' up!)
Rawhide!
