Carrying a Torch
The Olympic Flame paid a visit to the Northern Isles today. Flybe / Loganair brought it up from Orkney just after mid-day and this was as close as I got to it. Two flights brought the various LOCOG committee members and security and they were taken straight from the plane to buses on the tarmac before heading to Lerwick. After about 3 hours in Lerwick Oscar Charlie the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter based at Sumburgh took it back before the flame headed off to Stornoway.
Like many visitors the flame decided it could do Orkney and Shetland in a day.
