WHITBY ABBEY AND CHURCH

This is the Church of Saint Mary overlooking the town of Whitby, North Yorkshire from the East Cliff. It was founded around AD 1110, although its interior dates chiefly from the late 1700s. A flight of 199 steps leads up the hill to the church from the streets below.

Today, with my pal Tony, I climbed those steps with my bicycle. Well surely you did not think that I would ride up there !

 I did, however, complete my longest ever cycle ride from Ravenscar to Whitby and back – along the old railway line – which is all of 27 miles ! That’s enough for me – and Tony. Hehe . . .
