Wide Angle Wednesday - Architecture

Anyone who follows my journal will know that I am heavily involved with the Belair National Park.

In times past - indeed right up to the 1970's train travel to the park was very heavily used.  The Belair Railway Station provided one of the main entry points into the Park.

The Station itself opened in 1883, and this large shelter was built in  the 1890's specifically to cater for the large crowds of people visiting the Park. Apparently there was also a refreshment room, but that is long gone.

For those who did not wish to hike in, there was a trolley bus service from the Station to the main park entrance and all the pleasure facilities, such as ovals, tennis counts and picnic grounds.
