Meet the Duchess

We spent most of the day (avoiding the mid day heat) finishing the hedge work. It does take longer to clear up the debris than the initial cutting. It looks a bit sparse but hopefully it will regenerate. Gave all my pots ( there are about 100 of them) a good soaking this evening.
The plant is Paeonia lactiflora 'Duchesse de Nemours'. It is a great favourite, not least because our daughter had them in her wedding bouquet. It's always a sweet reminder of that special day. I moved it the year before last as I'd decided to keep all the paeonias together in one bed with the hydrangeas and to add more interest by adding annual flowers. It's coming together now and I'm pleased that the paeonias are flowering again after their traumatic move.
