In Protective Custody
The last couple of days have been hot and sunny, so at last the roses are beginning to bloom. This is my favourite David Austin, Jude the Obscure. Aptly named as it remains in a closed shape. It has of course a wonderful scent. Mr C's wire cage to protect from the deer is still in place while there is still succulent new growth that they munch on.
It has been 24 degrees here today, so I got very hot and sweaty climbing the hill to walk over the moor to have lunch with Ailie in the next village. We slathered ourselves in sunscreen and ate lunch in her garden. It took a lot of willpower to get going for the return walk, but that's 7 miles done today so now I'll read my book (in the shade).
