On Time

A wise flatmate of mine once told me about G K Chesterton's great statement that "the only sure way to catch a train is to miss the one before".

I'd agree.

I have missed many a train in my time, I fact my chronic lateness is not confined to trains, I've been late for many boats and flights too.

Tonight though, I was actually aiming for the 8.10 train so I'm sitting smugly early at the station in the summer evening sunshine listening to sparrows overhead.

Well ok, I was aiming for the 8.10 after I realised the 6.45 would be impossible and the 7.45 tight.
