Hamelin Pool stromatolites

We left Kalbarri after a hearty breakfast to view some of the coastal gorges and then went on to the river gorges.  There were masses of wildflowers out which were superb and a highlight was seeing Nature's Window.  (See extra).  From there we drove on until late this evening we reached Hamelin and had a look at the stromatolites.  Shark Bay is one of only two places in the world where living marine stromatolites exist.  They are fascinating and apparently this life form has been around for 3.5 billion years.   As Gill said, when you find something that works, why change it.   The sea was still as a mill pond and looking out you could not see the horizon.  Perhaps it was a sea mist or something but it had the most eery feel to it. 

On to Denham where we are now ensconced in our resort (the term resort has a very loose meaning up here and not necessarily to be equated with luxury)  We caught a magical sunset (another extra) and have booked our meal at the Pearler for tomorrow night.
