Vista of Vines
We got up a bit earlier today so we could enjoy the coolness of the morning for a cycle ride along the old railway line which runs from Bordeaux to Sauveterre. We joined the route at the old station at Creon which now hires out bicycles. The route was beautifully smooth and sign posted. Even the long tunnel we passed through had motion sensitive lights which came on one by one as we cycled through. The cool air under the woodlands (of oak, beech and sweet chestnut) made our work easy and the peacefulness and beauty of the countryside was an absolute delight. We passed fields of vines and sunflowers and little cottages and farms with roses climbing the walls. It was idyllic. I would have liked to have stayed longer but the temperature was rising and lunch calling.
