Pearly Heath

Our last full day in the field in Armenia started off surprisingly wet, dull and cool, but we drove up a spectacular mountain road to extensive hay meadows at Gnishik. The floral diversity was amazing, but initially we could find hardly any butterflies. When the cloud cover thinned and the morning brightened we started to see butterflies that, for once, were not flitting about the place, including lots of these beautiful Pearly Heaths.
