Mouse party
Leisurely up (although household revolves around dogs at the moment) and after a light breakfast headed off to Bielefeld. Visited
Heimat-Tierpark Olderdissen Animal Park in Bielefeld, about 30 mins drive away. It is FREE to go in (apart from 2 euros a day for parking).
It's write up states:
Olderdissen houses around 450 animals of 100 indigenous species, including many protected varieties.
This well-loved animal park, established from a fawn nursery run by the town’s forester and opened in 1930, nestles in the attractive landscape of the Teutoburg Forest. More than 450 animals of 100 indigenous species can be observed on 15 hectares, with ponds, meadows and forests. Excellent animal husbandry has facilitated the breeding of rare and endangered species. A favourite destination for all the family, the animal park is free of charge and open all year round, providing a major attraction with its brown bear enclosure.
Germans love spending time with their family, especially on Sundays as shops are still shut (apart from restaurants and places that attract family activities).
Lovely day (around 28 degrees). Back home and a chilled evening before contemplating the long journey back home tomorrow.
Great weekend - thank you Clare xx
