Avro Vulcan XH558

This is the last remaining Vulcan in a flying condition in the world, & this year (2015) is its last year in the air. For the last two days it has been flying all over the country saying "farewell". I was lucky enough to spot that it would fly within 5 miles of where I live today.

I drove to a bye road which runs the side of RAF Halton, but when I got there, there were lots already there. I'd looked on Google to locate the best vantage point but that was chocker block with folk already & so I did a hasty 3 point turn & parked just off road further down. I was lucky  lots more folk arrived as zero hour approached.

I was standing in the hedge patiently waiting when a lady in a 4x4 stopped and asked what was going on. I said we were expecting the Vulcan (cold war) bomber any moment & I said that it appeared on the horizon.

The camera went into overdrive & I fired off 150 shots which were all ok.
It was due to carry out a "below cloud" pass which he did but then he circled & came in again to give another chance of a good look.

I'm so pleased I've seen it !

 For years (when I was working) I donated £x each month to enable a bunch of enthusiasts to get XH558 airworthy. They succeeded but it costs so much to keep it flying that this season is its last.

I will add a couple of extra shots later on....
