Queen of Spain Fritillary

So excited to see this beautiful female Queen of Spain Fritillary on the sand dunes this morning. I've always wanted to see a fritillary and really didn't think it would be over here in Jersey!!!

I've cropped it as I thought the privet was a bit distracting. It probably looks best in large!

We were actually driving to a different spot, but because of a cycling race for the Island Games, the road was closed and we were directed a different way. Rik noticed that cars were actually driving along the closed road but they wouldn't let us or motorbike in front of us through! Never mind if we had gone to the other spot we certainly wouldn't have seen this beautiful rare butterfly!
