Relecting. On a wall.

When we moved in to the cottage, we started to strip away the archeological layers of paint and paper. Each generation had left its mark - floral wallpaper covered the distemper and, in turn, was covered by vivid coats of paint. The most recent decoration probably dated back to the eighties and consisted of a Laura Ashley pattern which was surprisingly similar to the original wallpaper.

I wondered what marks our occupancy would leave. Maybe our only contribution would be to have removed all traces of the previous inhabitants.
