Amorphophallus titanum

We went early to the Botanics to see the Titan Arum. Amazing sight! No smell though. Apparently, peak reek was at midnight on the Friday so virtually no-one experienced the full scent. We queued for about 45 minutes to see it but there was a much bigger queue when we left (I added an extra photo). The staff kept us entertained with info about the plant. They were all very excited!  The plant uses so much energy to flower that it is possible it may die after this. They have a new plant in the leafy stage though, so there may well be another flowering.
