What a Day!!

I just got back home and am backblipping our quick trip north for a couple doctor appointments. First, this photo is one of only three I took this day. It was go go go from morning till we stopped here at the Tualitan River National Wildlife Refuge on the way back out to Newberg. It was later in the day and by the time we got home it was getting stormy and we were tired. Since Glenn can't walk much, I jumped out of the car and snapped a couple photos. This is a really peaceful area. I walked for a little ways and came across a few snakes sunning themselves. They would have been my photo choice but they scurried off quickly into the grass.

To start our day we first stopped and visited my step-dad. Him and my Mom have been living with us for many years and after my Mom passed away 9 years ago we had him stay with us. He developed ALS which really (I hate the word) sucks. He has the type which starts in your legs and is very slow moving which we are thankful for. He is now in a wheelchair so has moved into an assisted living home. This is the first time we had seen him there and we were impressed! He has a nice large room. It is in a private home and the caregivers are very nice people. I feel better now that I have seen it and he seems happy. It was nice to see him!

After that it was Glenns doctor appointment. It went ok. His surgeon says his mri shows nothing wrong. The fusion is fine. He didn't really have an answer to why Glenn is having pain. He said that some people will have pain and threw out some choices. One, he can get steroid shots which Glenn had before the surgery and are a very temporary fix. A bandaid, I said. Two, he can have a trial electrode inserted to see if it helps then have a permanent one implanted that would have to be change every few years. More surgery :( Three, he can basically deal with it. Go to pain managment blah blah blah. Glenn really does not want more surgery but he doesn't want pain the rest of his life either. Not sure we are better off than before the appointment! The first thing I am going to do is help him loose his extra weight. That will be a huge help regardless of all the other things. ugh.

After his appointment we stopped at a favorite mexican restaurant for a late lunch. They have the BEST fish tacos ever! Then we went over to his brothers as he had a birthday present for Glenn. The gift was awesome! His brother had a photo of Glenn when he was about 3 blown up and printed on canvas and framed. It turned out wonderful and is a favorite photo of everyones! I can't wait to incorporate it into a wall of photos I have planned!

Then we headed on back out to Newberg stopping at the wildlife refuge. We ended up watching a couple movies with our kids. The first one was ok. Worth the redbox rental price. The second one was hysterical but it wasn't a comedy! It was a western with a couple well known actors but the acting was so bad that we just laughed through the whole thing. One of the unknown actors thought he was Clint Eastwood which had us in stitches! It was a good story line but the bad acting made for a bad movie. However, we did get our chuckles of the day! :)

So very much driving!

Happy Thursday
