Unidentified Toadstool.
Having tidied up the garage in an attempt to find all the tools needed to put up a shelf, I then set to making a hive stand for the new apiary (if and) when I get it. The plan was to have it small enough to fit in the car while being large enough to accommodate three hives. The two objectives turned out to be incompatible so I ended up with a two seater. It was after that task was completed that I realised that I could have usefully made it take two and a half hives. The half would actually be useful; you can buy things called "nucs" (short for nuclei) which only take six frames of honeycomb in stead of the usual eleven; they're used for creating artificial swarms for when you want to sell bees or merely increase your own stock. However, it would be a simple matter to relocate the slates that support the hives if the need ever arises. The alternative plan would be to either transport a larger one on a roof rack or to assemble it on site.
On a different topic, years ago, our garden was full of sycamore trees (which are, these days, classed as an invasive specie these days) which Jnr was addicted to climbing. When they were cut down we kept slices of trunk to use as garden seats, we never did sit on them. The last one has become pretty rotten and is now sporting this fungus. I'll have to find what it is from my "Ladybird Book of Mushrooms."
