Pace and mood

Quite interesting really... This morning I had to do another training course on safeguarding but this was taught by a human being to a roomful of other human beings. It covered a bit less ground than last night's on-line course but was far more engaging.

What computers can't do is attune themselves to the mood in the room and adjust the pace and content of what is being taught. They can't answer questions, lighten the tone when necessary, suggest group exercises at a time that feels right.

I really didn't want to spend a sunny Saturday morning in a classroom but it wasn't half as boring or frustrating as an evening being 'taught' by a computer.

On my way back from visiting a friend this afternoon I saw a cottage mid-thatch (extra). Unusual to see this skilled trade being practised, especially in a town.
