Bang!

It's Ramadan at the moment and at sunset they fire this thing to mark iftar when you can break fasting for the day.
It's in the middle of the downtown area and makes a tremendous bang which reverberates off all the buildings and always makes me jump, even when I know it's coming.
They also fire it again at sunrise to mark the start of the fast which wakes me up as well.
