And then there were two....
On 18th May eight recently-hatched cygnets were happily swimming in the canal at Netherton. Now there are only two, but having reached this size they have a fair chance of survival, and will be the best shot yet their parents have made at raising a brood.
One of the extra pictures shows the swan family being fed by people whose gardens back on to the canal. The other captures the wonderful array of wild flowers on the canal bank - white and pink clovers, buttercups, sedges and hawthorn blossom on the far bank.
