Old & New

A trip to the library this morning to return books, choose some new DVDs and pay some outstanding fines (ooops). We found a good few stories that apparently had to be read right there and then and from cover to cover and so we sat on the little red sofa and did just that. It was manky weather outside anyway and seemed a good way to spend a Saturday morning.

Our local library has had a bit of a facelift recently now that the Garioch Heritage Society and their Inverurie Museum has moved out of the upper floor and into a newly redeveloped building across town. The study space with reference books and computers has now been moved upstairs leaving a much larger and more relaxed area for the children's books which is much better. As well as the physical changes there are lots of new signposts directing you to the different sections and some lovely pictures with fantastic literary quotes hanging in the grand stairway.

Along with the self service checking out system and the signs about mobile apps the new signage is all very modern but it has been done in a way that it fits really well into the surrounding of the historic building and the original stained glass windows.

The photo is of course taken from the inside and so the wording is correct to the passer by on the street, although I expect most would miss it as they rushed passed.
