Salisbury Cathedral
Today I visited Salisbury. Originally my intention was to look at the Turner exhibition in Salisbury Museum. Which I did - the museum is an amazing place and lots more to see as well as Turner. The town is dominated by the cathedral so I toured there as well. It is simply beautiful and no photo can capture its beauty and grandeur. It stands 123 metres and (aparently unusually) was built in 38 years (consecrated in 1258). The spire was comleted in 1330(14 years before the Black Death plague).
One of the 4 remaining originals of the Magna Carta is on view here too. Really interesting - and 4 of the 63 clauses are still current in English law today.
