Country Charm
The tiny village of Mottisfont in the Test Valley is full of surprises and Rose Cottage is one of them.
But then this is Mottisfont, home of the national rose collection and the magnificent walled garden of the neighbouring Mottisfont House, now owned by the National Trust, and this month, with roses in full bloom, is a magnet for tourists and visitors. The River Test runs through its grounds
The Mottisfont estate extends to 1,600 acres of woodland and tenanted farmland, and includes the notable 400-year-old Spearywell Woods where only a few weeks ago we found a vivid carpet of bluebells.
Mottisfomnt House had its foundations in a 13th century abbey.
In the village itself there are many charming picturesque homes, but I bet you’ll have to go to some lengths to find such a delightful and striking chocolate box character.
This is the quintesentially English village and old world charm like this embraces the best of country life.
