Sea Mist
They call it fret or haar in northern areas. I expect it comes from the Norse or something.
It's been a lovely warm day where we are but just a couple of miles down the road in Teignmouth it was a little hazy off shore then the mist rolled in and soon the pier was almost obscured. Half an hour later it was gone again. It did give me a mysterious sort of image.
Late last night we went up to a high point to look for the aurora which is supposed to be visible even this far south. With a bright moon and clouds it would be hard to see but it might be easy to convince yourself you're seeing something. I'm glad we went though, I'd hate to hear that it was visible and we didn't go and look.
