White-Winged Dove

The White-Winged Doves are back in the area.  They are a lot prettier than the Mourning Doves with their distinctive white barred feathers along their sides and their fluffy white underside. 

Whereas the Mourning Dove seems to be more of a pest (they don't bother me but a lot of people don't like them around), the White-Winged is only a part-timed welcome visitor - at least in my backyard. 

This was my first sighting of the year.  He really seemed to like the water, first investigating it thoroughly, then diving right in.
