Malhamdale

Wonderful day exploring for real the landscape of the Yorkshire Dales, that I have got to know in a virtual way through Earthdreamer's journal.

We took the train from Ilkley to Settle and after some energy giving coffee and chocolate cake we started our hike with a steep climb up onto Attermire Scar, the misty rain decended and was very atmospheric, although the view was a bit limited. We walked through a landscape of high stone walls, limestone escarpments, erratic boulders, wild flowers and stone farm buildings. We arrived in Malham, wet but in great spirits, and after hot showers a trip to the local hostelry beckons!
